IF NIGERIAN FEDERAL UNIVERSITIES WERE FASHION ITEMS

There are over 50 Federal universities in Nigeria and each one of them have very distinctive features that make them bosses in their own rights. However, the unending battle between the universities, for who takes the ultimate crown still exists.

While the war lasts, let's have a little fun. If the different Federal universities in Nigeria were fashion items, what would each be? This is judged based on their vibe, reputation and culture.

UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN (UI) would be that classic designer wristwatch you would wear out to make a statement because it may be old, but it stays golden. Maybe a Rolex. 

OBAFEMI AWOLOWO UNIVERSITY (OAU) would be the White Agbada you would wear to a conference that is corporate in every sense. So, it’s giving rebellious and stylish, but in an

Afrocentric way. Everyone present would think you’re doing too much, but they would secretly wish they were you. (I said what I said!).

UNIVERSITY OF LAGOS (UNILAG) is the bold statement sunglasses or let’s say, the designer sneakers you would rock whenever there is a movie premiere. That way, the blogs would have something to say till your next appearance, which would probably be a bigger banger than the last. Always in the limelight.

FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY, AKURE (FUTA) matches your smart watch. It’s for everything, other than checking time (if you know, you know). It is designed to work, but it still manages to be cool, sleek and stand out.

UNIVERSITY OF NIGERIA, NSUKKA (UNN) is that Ankara palazzo you would wear to a book club meeting with Chimamanda. It’s giving bold and classy in a cultural way but does not hide the fact that you’re a genius!

UNIVERSITY OF ILORIN (UNILORIN) definitely is your white tee. Always clean, you can’t afford to mess up whenever you wear it. However, it’s your go-to whenever in doubt because it always delivers the look 100%.

NNAMDI AZIKIWE UNIVERSIITY (UNIZIK) are the beads you would wear to any traditional function. Might sometimes be chaotic, but it’s very expressive and indigenous.

AHMADU BELLO UNIVERSITY (ABU) is the embroidered Kaftan you would wear on Fridays to give you an elite, powerful, traditional, yet intellectual look.

UNIVERSITY OF ABUJA (UNIABUJA) is the anti-glare glasses you would wear to compliment your trad (the Kaftan), but everyone knows that it does nothing for you. Basically, just for fashion (no shades thrown).

UNIVERSITY OF BENIN (UNIBEN) is the denim jacket that you own and are so proud of. It is the ‘extra’ that you’re looking for. Always with the right amount of steeze, although it would sometimes not cooperate with you, by making your outfit look classless (no shades thrown).
