Weekends are supposed to be your chance to breathe, recharge, and step away from the grind of school or work. But in reality, it always feels like an extension of the week, filled with catch-up assignments, errands, or endless scrolling that leaves you more drained than refreshed. The good news? You can reclaim your weekends by turning them into intentional resets that restore your energy and set you up for a stronger week ahead.

Here are some practical weekend routines to make your time off feel restorative:
1. Prioritize sleep and slow mornings:
Start by protecting your sleep. Aim for 8–9 hours and resist the urge to set an early alarm. On Saturday or Sunday, wake up, and ease into the day with a slow routine. Maybe start by drinking tea or coffee, journaling, or even a home workout session. This simple shift combats weekday fatigue and gives your body time to recover.

2. Unplug from screens and work:
Turn off notifications and avoid checking WhatsApp or doom scrolling on your socials. Dedicate at least a few hours to a digital detox. Replace scrolling with something offline, like reading a book, listening to music, or even revising your handwritten class notes.

3. Exercise:
Move your body in a way that feels good. Exercise doesn't always have to be intense. Instead go for a nature walk, yoga, or dancing to your favourite playlist. Getting outside boosts mood through fresh air.

4. Be intentional about your feeding:
If during the week, you fed yourself with so much junk, then make up for it during the weekend. Go all out, and have that meal, without feeling guilty. Your weekend should also be an opportunity to plan for the week ahead. Plan simple, healthy meals for the week ahead to reduce weekday stress.

5. Make out time for joy and connection:
Need I say more? Call a friend, spend time with family, see a movie, or do anything, as long as it makes you happy. Social activities and creative pursuits recharge your emotional battery.

6. End with gentle prep:
On Sunday evening, spend 20–30 minutes reviewing your week. Jot down key tasks or prep your outfits for the week ahead. This prevents tardiness and creates a sense of control, but keep it brief to avoid turning it into actual work.

By incorporating these habits, you’ll be just on track to reclaiming your weekends.
You’re welcome!
