You’ll know you’ve officially entered final year mode when suddenly, every moment feels like a memory in the making and every class starts feeling like a group therapy session.
Somehow, everything that used to stress you out no longer does. You’ve simply seen too much, survived too much, and learned the fine art of not caring unnecessarily. At this point, school feels like a walk in the park, a slightly chaotic park, but still.
1. You stop arguing with lecturers because peace is priceless.
In 100 level, you used to challenge every unfair grade and protest every unnecessary assignment. Now? You just sigh and say, “It’s not that deep.” The lecturers have shown you enough shege for one degree, and honestly, your peace is worth more than the argument. You simply pick your battles, and most times, that means picking none.
2. You start giving unsolicited advice to 100L students.
Advice becomes your love language. You see a 100L student stressing over a test and your inner elder awakens: “Don’t worry, you’ll be fine.”
They reply, “My case will be different,” and you just smile knowingly, not because you doubt them, but because you remember saying the exact same thing. Look at you now, full circle.
3. You count classes like a countdown to freedom.
Every lecture feels like one step closer to liberation. You know exactly how many weeks are left in the semester, how many more times you’ll climb that faculty staircase, and how many courses stand between you and signing out. It’s not stress anymore, it’s just “six months more.”
4. You start reflecting on how far you’ve come.
Between the sleepless nights, last-minute submissions, and campus drama, you suddenly realize, you made it. The growth hits differently. You’re not just older; you’re wiser, calmer, and more grounded.

Being a final year student isn’t just about completing your degree, it’s about completing a chapter of yourself.
You laugh more, you stress less and try to soak it all in because deep down, you know this phase, the chaos, the late nights, the friendships, the God abeg moments won't come twice.
