Schooling in a country like Nigeria is hard. You practically have to worry and overthink about everything that on a normal, should unfold naturally. All that thinking, and before you know it, things are going south, faster than you can salvage. You become a shadow of yourself, your early twenties begin to look like you have 4 children and you are planning every one of their futures alone, you become unproductive, on and on (the list is long).

If we are going to be calling a spade itself, then, this is the part where I add that there is not so much that you can do about it, but one thing that can make this predicament better, is taking each day at a time, and planning the heck out of it.
Here are some of the importance and benefits of planning your day as a student:
1. Time management:
Planning your day helps you allocate your time efficiently. By scheduling hours of the day for different things that you have to do, you can ensure that you are not overwhelmed. You can have your “you-time” and also time for serious stuff.

2. Stress management:
When you have your day planned out, you are less likely to feel anxious and overwhelmed about all the stuff you have to do, because you already have it factored in the 411. Knowing what you need to do, and when to do it, is bliss on another level!

3. Improved productivity:
You don’t just plan your day. You prioritize your tasks and stick to it. By doing this, you get to accomplish more in less time and have more time for yourself and leisure. You would agree with me that the satisfaction when you’ve completed a task is unmatched.

4. Personal development:
Proper planning allows you to have time for yourself. You would discover that in the long run, you really don’t have to be overwhelmed in the long run when you can avoid it. You can rest, hang out, and basically just do your own thing when you plan your day.

5. Improved academic performance:
This is a no-brainer. If you plan your day like a reasoning student, then study hours would definitely pop in at some time of the day. Utilizing those hours would definitely pay off in the long run, except if your village people and other factors have refused to rest.

This is the part where I add that: Although it’s important to plan your day, it is equally important to remain flexible. Being open to flexibility(adaptable to changes) helps you navigate unforeseen challenges. Try dey freestyle once once.
You’re welcome.
